There are many causes of night sweats, however they are most commonly tied to menopause night sweats. However, this may not always be the truth. Men have them also. When you get in your bed, the sheets will seem cool to the touch, but when you lay in one position, the bedding assimilates your body heat, which makes them as hot as you are. For instance, if you have a cold or the flu, you could have night sweats as a result of feverish activity within the body. In some people, it's an imbalance in various hormones in your body that often affect body temperature, sometimes brought on by chronic conditions such as heart or kidney disease. In other people, the cause could be idiopathic hyperhidrosis, that is a condition where the body constantly delivers sweat without any known medical reason. If night sweats begin to interfere with your sleep or are a problem for a long period of time, a trip to your physician may be in order to find a solution to the problem.
